Who are you connected with?

The other day my leader and I were speaking of being connected to people for the ministry.  We have been most definitely Called to win souls and make disciples.  But he said to me this 'it is our choice in whom we want to be connected to.'   I have been thinking about this for about a week now, off and on, as I am 32 years old and have allowed myself to be surrounded by kids and youth in and for the ministry.  At times, I think to myself that it can be weird, and other people may think it be to be weird, that I am 32, but connect to kids instead of adults. But I learned something along time ago, it does not matter what Other people think, but only what God thinks of me.  

I had the opportunity the other day to serve as an usher in church.  One of those positions in serving is up at the front of the stage, and as an usher we are required to stand in front of the stage to keep people from going in front of where the leaders sit, or up onto the stage while worship is happening.  Well, one of the great things about this position is that I get to watch everyone worship as I face the crowd and assure my responsibility is being fulfilled.  And I love that because I get the opportunity to look at all the pretty faces worshipping Jesus at their best, lifting their hands to Jesus! It is surely a sight to see! But my most favorite people to watch worship and sing to God, lifting their hands and praising Him are the kids! My heart melts, and my smile grows big, and the joy in my soul is great to watch those kids, so young, worshipping Jesus innocently with all they are!  

And so, I have decided to always work hard at connecting and relating to kids.  The kids need a spiritual father to raise them up for God, to teach them who God is and how to love God! It is a fatherless generation, and it is our responsibility as Christians to be that spiritual father figure in the kids lives who do not have a father.  Now, how I decide to reach these kids is one thing, now that is another strategy to think about.

Farewell to my neighbor, may she rest in peace

Today I learned that my neighbor Angela passed away 2 days ago.  She was an elderly lady and was sick with cancer.  I had the opportunity to pray for her once, layed hands on her about a year ago.  My heart is saddened today because it is crazy how we live so close to people yet know not much about them.  I and my wife had planned on having tea with her one day, so she could meet my wife.  That day never happened, and that is maybe why I am saddened, because we missed out on such a great opportunity.   But thank God I was able to pray for her.  Perhaps it was my prayer that allowed her to live for another year.  Message of this story, get to know your neighbors, you never know when their last day will be.  And always do what God has convicted you to do.   In loving memory to Angela, may she rest in peace.
